Great bike.

Review by Jay N.

Just getting into mtn biking and so far the Syncr has been an awesome bike. The NX 1x is easy to shift with all the gears I would need to traverse the green trails I have been riding on. Currently not going too fast but the brakes work good and going on inclines are no problem for me. The seat comfort is okay but manageable with liners. At first I was wearing some sneakers and my foot kept slipping off the pedals so I ended up purchasing some mtn shoes and It doesn't happen too often anymore or it just might be my skill level =). Eventually I will prolly upgrade the pedals but as for now I am okay with them until my skills progress. I think its a great looking bike and always excited for the next time I go riding. I had purchased the syncr while it was on sale so I got a great price compared to other similarly equipped bikes. I feel that I got more bang for the buck with the syncr and would def recommend it.

Love this bike

Review by Ian S

I was looking for quite a while for a good/solid mid-level bike and so far I'm very happy with this bike. It's pretty flat around where I live, so most of my riding is on fairly flat trails with some fairly small climbs and decents here and there. So I did change the chainring to a 32 tooth instead of the stock 30 tooth which gave me a little more top end. I also added a KS Crux dropper post that I found on sale which works great. Chainring=$15, Dropper=$159. Great bike, good components for the price, especially with my corporate discount. Love the hydraulic brakes, the 1x11 setup and the front Air Fork (after I added just tad more air to it). I definitely picked the right bike, feel like this one should last me for many years.

Out of the box setup was very easy, The rear derailleur and brake calipers did need some slight adjustments, but those things only took about 30 minutes to fix up and then I was off and riding.

Very Nice Bike

If I had known it was not a coil fork as listed in the specs but rather an air fork, more specifically, the Recon TK Silver Solo Air 130mm travel, I would have bought it sooner. I received my bike last night and looked at the actual fork. Very nice bike for the price. Now only for my skills to catch up to the level bike I now have.

Great Bike

It does come with air shocks not coil (as mentioned in reviews below)which I'm very happy about! I have ridden the bike 3 times so far and couldn't be happier. Comes with great parts for the price, honestly can't beat It. Do some research find a good price and you'll be more than happy with this one. Mine is exclusive grey only sold by certain stores (love the grey).

Great Bike

Review by Archer

I have been looking for a jack of all trades bike. I wanted a hardtail that could handle most trails I would come across aside from the near vertical, up or down. This bike seems to fit the bill. I've had it for just under two weeks and have already logged 40 trail miles: flowy single track, flat xc, climbing, light downhill, and gnarly rock gardens. The performance of this bike really shines on the downs and rough stuff. It still climbs effectually, but I really have to weigh down the front to keep it from rising on the most steep climbs, which requires getting out of the saddle. I've had to pay a little extra attention to snags, because it feels it has a quite low BB compared to what I'm used to. All the gear seems solid and the bike is easy to upgrade having modern specs. As others have stated, the Spec sheet is incorrect: the fork IS a Rockshox Recon Silver TK Solo Air 130mm. It is a very plush fork compared to entry level coil forks I'm used to for sure. The bike is a winner in my book!

2017 SYNC'R. GREAT!!

Review by JOSEPH
Overall Quality

Mostly I wanted to correct the spec on the fork listed for this bike. IT IS NOT A COIL, IT IS A RECON TK SILVER SOLO AIR 130mm!!
Had I known this off the bat I would've bought this much sooner. Given the price, I was at first hesitant since at this price point it really should have air. IT DOES. The specs are wrong, I've chatted with two different diamondback reps and they both just read off the spec sheet telling me it definitely is a coil fork. I knew this could be wrong for two reasons, Yalerider reviewer down below, and that the fork is 130mm. I researched SRAM/rockshox spec and parts sheets and they do not offer a COIL in 130mm. They technically did not offer a 130mm SOLO AIR off the shelf, only a 120mm. However if you read through the recon silver parts list, you will see that the early version SEKTOR air spring part number is listed as a compatible replacement for the recon silver 2016-2017. This air spring is 130mm and is what I assume diamondback spec'ed to have rockshox put in for this bike.

On to the bike itself, this is my first REAL bike. Had a much cheaper diamondback for a few years that I did simple fire-roads with. Now I want to get more serious into the hobby. This bike feels great so far and is a good "entry" level mountain for those looking to get more serious into the sport. The component sets are very decent. Enough to keep the price down, but worthy enough for a beginner to grow into a intermediate rider without really having to upgrade. (less drop posts, and other cockpit parts which are changed on any bike depending on rider)

This is my first 1X setup, so far I feel like it's got enough range for my beginner level of bicycle fitness. (comes with a 30 chainring) Should I get in better pedaling shape I can easily swap the ring to a 32 or 34. The
The brakes initially felt like crap to be frank. Worse then the old mechanical discs on my old MTB.
But I think the fresh pads/rotors are to blame. As I use them more, they are biting harder, and stop well with good feel and modulation.
Seat and pedals are par for the course at this price point, good enough for now.
I'm told that with tubeless ready tires the stock rims can easily be taped up for "ghetto tubeless" /

If you can snag a good discount on this bike, it's really hard to beat especially if you want the more trendy and popular (slack-ish) geometry. I looked at other big name brands, direct to consumer brands, and used. It was hard to find a deal as good as this (I got the corporate discount). Also I thought I didn't really like yellow, but in person this bike looks awesome. The yellow frame/black wheels looks beefy as hell. The yellow isn't solid either it's got some pearl to it.

2017 Diamondback Sync'r Sweet ride!

Review by Yalerider

I love this bike. I am just getting into MTB at 57 years old. I did my research and found a good deal on this bike. I added a dropper seatpost and found some Hans Dampf tubeless tires cheap so will try tubeless down the road.
This thing handles really well and feels nimble, I have got a lot of compliments on it. Love the color also.
One thing on this site it says it is a "coil" fork but mine is a Solo Air, not sure if that is a typo?

Really like this bike!

Review by Rob

For the price, I was not expecting much from this hardtail. All my other bikes are full suspension. I wanted something different. I read the description on the site and liked the specs. I wondered about NX verse GX drive because a friend's Diamondback is GX and he really likes his bike, but I was quickly amazed at how the shifting was so snappy. I have changed the handlebars. I have a certain bend I like - too many bikes come with too flat of a bar. By the way, if you are disappointed that it does not come with the Blanchard rims you should realized that stock DB rims actually tape up tubeless pretty easily. The stock tires probably aren't going to do this but buy a tubeless tire, some rim tape and a stem. I have converted many DB rims to tubeless with really good luck and they are easier to change when flat then a tubeless ready rim.
The feel of this frame is perfect for me. I sit right in it. Size medium. I'm really pleased with this bike. It pedals effectually, has nice looking decals and the thru axles are a nice touch.
After a quick assembly, I took it out on a rough trail and worked the 130 mm Recon fork by driving it into some tooth-chipping divots with surprising results. Much better then the RockShox 120 mm fork. I now see how a good fork works well along with a tubeless rear tire set up. One last thing - I added a dropper post and used the frame routing for a perfect fit. Very happy.
