Recoil 29

The benefits of full suspension aren’t exclusive to superbikes. The Recoil uses a simple single pivot design to deliver the smooth ride that comes from a bike that’s doing everything it can to maintain traction underneath you. Four inches of front and rear suspension travel combine with 29” wheels to take the edge off all but the biggest roots, holes, and rocks on the trail, giving you a plush and smooth ride. The frame is built using butted and formed aluminum tubing, a standard of light weight and durability in the bike world, so it’s ready to brave the mountains with you. You’ll be rolling for seasons to come with a trail-proven parts build including a Shimano 3×8 speed drivetrain, Tektro disc brakes, and solid components all around.

Ready Ride bikes are shipped 95 percent assembled. Typical bike assembly is time-consuming and requires technical know-how. Ready Ride reduces the time and skills needed for the final, four-step assembly.

Great first full suspension bike for a beginner

Review by Tampachaz
Overall Quality

I’m a newbie to mountain biking. I went full squish for comfort and keeping more rubber (less flesh!)on the trail. The setup is easy to assemble, easy to maintain and totally upgradeable. It’s nimble and very controllable over root, rock gardens and loose sand pits. I ride in Florida at local, former phosphate mines that have been reclaimed by nature and adopted by mtb riders/enthusiasts. The air is humid and the ground is sandy, full of roots and rocks. It shreds through features and more flowy trails. Love it. ALSO I feel it necessary to give a huge shout out to DB’s customer support! These guys are all fellow riders and they helped resolve a bent tire issue out of box within two days! Great company, great staff, great bike and best of all, great price! Total loyalty from me going forward!

This bike has been ridden through creeks and tons of mud. So far I broke the derailleur hanger. The rear shock works, but it is really loud. Overall its a good Bike.

amazing ride

I received my recoil for Christmas and it's already become my favorite bike. It's good for beginners and is actually fairly nimble for a 29er trail-bike. I've jumped staircases, climbed steep hills and beat the bike and it's still holding up. There are many near future upgrades I could see for this bike like a dropper seat post, 1x drivetrain, and clipless pedals. I can see myself sticking with Diamondback whether I'm racing this summer or just fooling around with my friends.

Awesome ride!

I have been riding this bike for a short few weeks and I am amazed at how well it rides! I had low expectations for the price and have been pleasantly surprised how awesome the ride is. After shopping around I just couldn’t pass this deal up for a full suspension bike. I may upgrade the suspension components eventually but so far I don’t think that is even necessary. This bike is well worth the money. Assembly was easy. I will be a DiamondBack customer for life.

Great beginner bike

I got this bike as a birthday present from my family and I have loved it. The large wheels and the full suspension make it a very smooth ride over rocks or roots. The only drawback is that it's quite heavy, but that doesn't bother me much. Overall it's a great bike.

Great Mountain Bike

Review by dennis_99

Just got the bike shipped to my house on Saturday; super easy set up and I was riding trials that afternoon. Rode Saturday and Sunday; it was awesome. I used to have a diamond back in college that was my primary means of transportation; so now that I'm into trial riding I went back to ol faithful. I had bought a cheap bike at local sporting goods store and took it out last weekend; one 2 hour ride and I knew it was a piece of junk; no handling, brakes sucked and bike was loud, uncomfortable and bumpy.
This DB Recoil is absolutely great bike and best I've ever had. Immediately I could tell the high quality of parts and components as I assembled. Assembly was quick and easy with online video provided. As soon as I mounted the bike I could feel the control and quality and handling was phenomenal. Bike performed above-expectations on the trial. I had my wife and son try it out and I'm now on the site trying to get one for them. EXCELLENT BIKE a must have!

Great mountain bike at a great price

Review by Pasha

Used to have a Kona Stinky about a decade ago for serious fun. Now I have a kid, who I'll be taking to the light trails with me. Got this bike in a ride-ready package. What a great deal! Took me about 20 minutes to assemble from opening the box to being ready to ride with the tires fully inflated. All the tools are there, all the parts are 90% tuned (had to play with the disc brakes a little). Bike looks great, and what I also liked, is that they also included a front fork fender with the package (totally unexpected). Very rainy here in the PNW right now, but I'm itching to take it out and have some fun.
Overall, I think this bike is not for serious downhill blasts, but for what I'll be using it for (family mountain rides), it is perfect. I might upgrade the rear shock, like most do, but I want to give this ghetto spring a try first. It might just serve me well.

if you are a new rider looking for some fun on intermediate to advanced trails, then this is not the bike for you.
I started on a specialized hardrock with disc breaks and it was and still is the best bang for you buck beginner bike out there. The trails that I ride are very rocky and steep so I decided to get a full suspension bike. The recoil 29er.
I abuse this bike on a daily basis since I commute to school on these trails. I have blown both the fork and rear shock as well as bent both weels during the last two months. the derailers just can't seem to not break, it goes out of tune often and does not respond well to shifts.
Although all this bad criticism I guess I got what I paid for a 700 dollar indestructible frame with horrible and fragile components.

Can’t beat this for the price. Only negative is the suspension. Upgrade that and this would be a worthy competitor on the trails. I’ve put 100 miles on intermediate single track and it’s still working flawlessly. I’ve had to fine tune it several times as would be expected given the punishment I’ve put it thru.

Great First Mountain Bike

Review by Hunter

I bought this bike a few months ago and I love it. I ride really hard and like to get as much air as possible. It has stayed right there with me and I haven't had any problems. Great first bike to get. I plan to make a bunch of upgrades as time goes on and I feel like this is the perfect bike for that.

Holding up better than expected

Review by Brian Newlon
Overall Quality

I have been abusing this bike pretty hard, already snapped the chain after 100 miles of singletrack, and I've replaced the rear coil spring with an air spring, and plan on upgrading the front forks, but c'mon, for the price of this bike, it's a no-brainer. It is taking everything I throw at it! I have no trouble keeping up with the carbon frame specialized bikes my buddies ride, and I'm able to hit the same obstacles just as hard. Very tough bike for a very low cost. The bike has some cons, but they're not bad enough to justify paying quadruple for another full suspension bike. This bike is built for trails, don't be afraid of sending it down a bumpy hill at 40mph, it will take it, over and over.

I will admit that I am fairly rough on my bikes. I will normally ride them in all weather conditions (rain, snow,) all year. Since this bike is also my main form of transportation it needed to also be very durable. And so far after owning this just over a year now it has held up wonderfully. Not a single mechanical issue so far after buying this. I only just replaced my first tube on this bike just last week. And will give its first tune up sometime next month to get it ready for the winter months. But this bike has been very dependable for me. And hopefully will continue to do so for years to come.

I'm happy with the shifting and brakes. However the fork and shocks are both loud and the rear one is pretty bad.... I weighed it and it came in at 36.8 pounds. It's a nice bike however and I'm sure with some upgrades it would be an amazing bike. Would recommend!!!

I've had this bike for over two years now and I have abused it every way possible. Yeah, I've had to replace the usual wear and tear stuff like tyres, tubes...that usual tune up that just makes it work even better.....but the rest of this thing has just held it together. I ride really hard and in the roughest terrain and it has held up well. It's not a light bike compared to the ones that are 4 of 5 times the price of this but it gets the job done.
