Haanjo Trail

* Required Fields

Built for adventure, the lightweight aluminum Haanjo Trail is a bit of a chameleon – part commuter, part mountain road crusher. A slightly taller head tube puts you in a more upright position than a traditional road bike, battling fatigue as you ride on forgotten, neglected, and undiscovered roads. A full monocoque carbon fiber fork has a 12mm thru axle, delivering chatter-free control on the loosest of surfaces. The component package is also up to the task with a 2×11 speed drivetrain, hydraulic brakes, HED wheels, and all-purpose 40c tires. For riders that seek out a little bit of everything, the Haanjo Trail is a bike-of-all-trades.

Greatest all-around bike and bang for your buck!

Review by Ruslan
Overall Quality

This is the best bike I've ever ridden for all terrains. I've ridden different bikes from Specialized Roubaix Carbon road bike to fat tire bikes to cheap road bikes, and I've never dared go off the road... Until now. Now I'm able to go from road to gravel to dirt/mud to mountain to single track and back to road all on a single bike. This is truly THE adventure bike and best bang for your buck you will find out there.

The Ultegra components work perfectly... The hydraulic disc brakes especially come in handy when riding on rough terrain that messes with the disc positioning. With a couple squeezes of the lever and a few seconds of riding, the brakes auto adjust and work as well as new! Shifting is a breeze and - due to being Ultegra - should come as no surprise.

The bike is incredibly light (I ride a Large size at 6'1") and I can easily carry it around when I'm climbing some difficult terrain.

I live in a city where there are:
lots of hills (great gearing)
lots of rain (disc brakes)
lots of paved trails (road/adventure bike combo)
lots of unpaved gravel + dirt paths (adventure time!)
lots of bumps/cracks/cobbles (HAANJO can handle it)

This is a super bike that will handle it all, just give it a try!

a great bike for the trail and the city street.

I have only taken the Haanjo trail on a few miles of dirt and gravel. It handled as expected. The carbon fork definitely softens the rough spots on the trail and the 40 tires provided stability on some roots and mud. I will be taking it on a long off-road ride at the end of the month. I have been riding in New York City for more than two decades. Here was the big surprise: the Haanjo Trail is a surprisingly good NYC commute bike. It is almost as fast as my Roubaix Expert. The hydraulic brakes stopped on a dime when a car door opened in front of me and when a distracted pedestrian cut out between parked buses.
This is a fun bike. Whether in the drops or on the hoods, you will want to push this Haanjo Trail.
One consideration: if you do not have a workstand, you will probably need to bring this to the local bike shop to fine tune the shifting (if you are having it shipped to your home).

EPIC - value, build and attention to detail

What an amazing bike for the price. Mix of Ultegra and 105, hydraulic disc brakes, quality Kenda tires, beautiful frame and well thought out design make this an amazing bike already, but the small things really impressed me. For instance the tools that came with the bike, pedal wrench & torque wrench, to help the home builder complete the build - brilliant. The quality FSA Compression plug for the carbon steerer tube & the Shimano E-Thru axles, instead of the usual Taiwan parts of questionable quality, again super impressed. Oh and the packaging, I've unboxed hundreds, if not thousands of bikes over the years working as a bike mechanic, from comfort bike to custom builds from high dollar frame builders and the lengths to which DB goes through to ensure your bike gets to the buyer unscathed is amazing to say the least. Way to go DB!

Now to cover some details about the frame that I had questions about but couldnt really find answers too online or in reviews and address some concerns.
1) What is steerer tube material? If carbon what is the compression plug like? The steerer is Carbon and the plug is a quality FSA plug.
2) Rotors, centerlock or 6-bolt? Centerlock, front and rear.
3) The bike does not come with pedal washers, be prepared to supply your own.
4) Wheels come with tubeless valves and are taped ready to go, but have tubes installed.
5) I would recommend pulling any bolts or parts with threads out and greasing them, as most were not greased from the factory.
6) The seatpost clamp is a quailty unit, similar in design to Salsa clamp with pivoting anchor to prevent bolt deformation.
7) Be aware when threading the rear thru axle into the frame, the drive side female connection is not attached to the hanger but is a separate piece (nut) that just sits in the frame and can be pushed out when installing the axle if not careful. The nut has a rubber grommet running around its diameter that helps to hold it into the frame, but it still can be knocked out rather easily.
8) A point about fit. I'm an evenly proportioned 6'4" and the stock build fits really well, stem length was spot on for how I like my road-esque bike to fit. Not super aero, but not too comfort fit either and very happy medium with regards to reach. Bars are comfy and seatpost is a quality two bolt design with good adjustment range.

Long story short, I would highly recommend the Haanjo Trail to anyone looking for a great value bike for good all-around riding - gravel, road, light trails, you won't be disappointed.

Wheel overlap

Review by JT
Overall Quality

I purchased this bike to use for commuting and some gravel rides. Overall, I was very happy with the build quality and ride of the bike. The one major issue I had with the bike was It had over an inch of toe overlap with the front wheel (size 45, 11 us road shoe/ size 53 bike). Ultimately, I returned the bike.

good frame, great fork, very good selection of components with excellent brakes.
saddle is not great. the specs have a misprint, it's 12mm thru-axle on the fork, not 15mm.
orange graphics on red looks great but the font for the Eroica stem and bars is weird and out of place.
The rear derailleur does not have a barrel adjuster around the bars (but the front derailleur has one), a bit of a shame.
right balance of grip and rolling resistance for road and double track. great bike overall.
