The Release 29 2 is the lankier sibling of the Release and Catch full-suspension mountain bikes. Designed for high-mileage days with a high shred factor, this aluminum trail ripper is built on the same 130mm travel Level Link suspension platform as its smaller-wheeled siblings. We’ve adjusted the geometry for 29-inch wheels while keeping the same playful attitude that our Level Link bikes have become known for.

The Fox Float DPS Performance shock is outfitted with an EVOL LV air sleeve for excellent responsiveness and a bottomless feel to soak up the worst on steep, technical terrain. A 140mm travel Fox Rhythm 34 fork, Shimano SLX drivetrain, and hydraulic stoppers let you stay focused, no matter what the trail dishes out.

Big Performer

Review by Sean
Overall Quality

My first mtb was a Diamondback Recoil 29er. I upgraded the stock shocks with RockShox front and back and upgraded the brakes and that thing performed awesome and served me well for two years. When I heard DB had the 29er in the Release model I grabbed one quick. I absolutely love this bike. I prefer the 29 inch wheels so that’s a personal preference but this bike maneuvers well, very agile and playful. It is specked out pretty good for the price. To be honest this bike is very similar to the Santa Cruz High Tower but doesn’t cost $4000 and I’ll tell ya having ridden both I can’t tell the difference except for what’s written on the frame. DB has really shined with the LL suspension and with 29 inch tires I can take this bike just about anywhere, it really is well rounded. It climbs and descends like a beast. Once you dial in the suspension she reall wants to go. Love this bike. Thanks DB for making awesome capable trail bikes and not busting the wallet.

Solid full suspension 29er

Overall Quality

This is my first 29er, and my first mountain bike in over a decade, and it exceeds my expectations. You won’t find another bike with these component specs at this price. I’m 6’4” and am pleased with the XL. The bike climbs like a goat (despite its heft) and rips it on the way down. Lots has changed in the MTB world since I last rode, and this was s exactly what I was looking for; more than enough bike for me.

Also, kudos to DB for including excellent platform pedals and valve stems to get yourself a tubeless setup for the cost of some sealant.
