Mason 2

When the original Mason debuted, it blew minds — here was a 29er hardtail that could be ridden aggressively on the kind of trails you thought required a full-suspension bike. Adding plus-size 27.5×2.8” tires to the Mason was, in retrospect, a no-brainer. The Mason is still a brawler, but now it practically floats over the rough stuff, while retaining all the fun-loving traits that made it so popular.

The Mason 2+ features a double-butted frame, crafted from our weapons-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. We hung all manner of rowdy-ready parts on that rugged frame, including a RockShox Judy Gold RL fork with Boost 110 thru-axle, an accurate and robust SRAM NX single ring drivetrain, and SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes. The bike rolls atop our own Blanchard 38R wheels shod with the plus-size version of gravity-loving Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR tires.

Ready to go anywhere? We’ve got just the bike for you.

Love the bike so far

Review by Brad from NM
Overall Quality

Had the bike a couple months now and originally bought it to be my weekend mountain bike. I was going to continue riding my hybrid by as my commuter during the week. Well this bike is just too much fun to not ride. Love the big tires, this thing just rolls over everything. So far i've take on dirt trails with the kids and pulling the bike trailer, single track, rock gardens and commuted to work on it. Yeah i like it. I love how this thing carries its momentum when going down a hill it almost feels like someone is pushing you up the next hill ( these are small hills). Love the gearing on this bike, i didnt think there was much of a difference between bikes and drive trains, but this 1x11 is so nice. It shift fast and the gearing always just feels right.

For the cons, if you plan on buying this bike just order a new seat now. You wont last more than a couple mile before taking it off and just riding on the seat post pole! ( just a little exaggeration) Sizing seams to be a little off, Im 6ft with a 33in inseam and i have to have the dropper as far down in the frame to get a comfortable ride seat height. Im on a large frame, could just be me but thought i would have more adjustment with the seat than what there is. Assembly was easy, had to adjust the breaks a few times to get them to stop rubbing. Was also missing the mud guard but DB quickly took care of that for me.
It will run out of gearing pretty quick on the road, but that's not really what this bike is for. I can get to about 25mph before i really have to spin it fast to keep going. Had to re tape of one the rims because it wouldn't hold air with the factory tape job. Looks like tape got folded over when it was put on and was creating a leak. Replaced tape and tires are now tubeless which was really pretty simple to do.

Bike is still putting a smile on my face when i ride it and think that's going to happen for a long time to come, love these plus tires !

I cannot say enough good things about this bike. It would be a great bike at double the price. The tires are insane! Definitely invest in some Stans and go tubeless. The large frame with a 60 mm stem was a little tight for my 6‘1“ frame. So I added a 75 mm stem. Otherwise I love everything about this bike. Did I mention it’s awesome?!?

Great bike!

Bike came well packaged. Just had to mount the front wheel, pedals, and handlebar.. Everything works great, dropper post works very well. Took the bike to some trails and did really well. Only thing I had to adjust was putting a bit more air in the fork for my weight, and lining up the front caliper/rotor, but nothing crazy. took 5 minutes.
