Line (2017)

There was a time when every mountain bike was an all-around hardtail. Climbs, descents, berms, even some air: the Line does its hardtail predecessors proud. This bike is far from a throwback or retro project though, it’s a modern machine. The slack and low-slung frame is the key: it lowers your center of gravity, keeping you stable any speed. A single ring SRAM 1×9 drivetrain, short stem, and wide bars complement its contemporary configuration. Hydraulic disc brakes with big rotors and 27.5” knobbies give you tons of traction and stopping power. If you’re looking for a bike that can really do it all: look no further. The Line makes every trail more fun. Ready Ride bikes are shipped 95 percent assembled. Typical bike assembly is time-consuming and requires technical know-how. Ready Ride reduces the time and skills needed for the final, four-step assembly.

The Diamondback Line delivers an incredible value for the money you spend. Better components than most at the price point and a decent set of tires to boot. I beat on this thing way harder than the manual recommends and it just continues to take it. Only glaring negative I found is that the factory chain ring is junk and will drop the chain 3-5 times an hour during aggressive/bumpy downhill riding. Replace it with a Raceface NW right away and throw away the chain guide, only a $40 expense. Haven't dropped a chain since. As your skills progress you could spring for a dropper post and take it to the next level, too. That's it, I can't find anything else to complain about. 4 stars because of the cheap chain ring.

Better than Expected!

I recently ordered the Diamondback Line and the Diamondback Hook (for my brother). I have had my Line in the trails a couple times already and couldn't be happier! Its great, was easy to assemble, needed very little adjustment, and feels VERY sturdy. For a somewhat "entry level" mountain bike it seems to be holding up very well. Gearing is great too for getting after it on the longer strait aways, and those treacherous Florida uphill climbs... Super pumped with the perchance.

Excellent Bang For Your Buck

At $599 you cant beat this bike. I was lucky and got mine for relatively cheap too and I couldn't be happier. With a $599 price tag you can get the bike upgrade a few things like crankset, front chainring, handlebars, pedals, seat and seatpost and stay under $1000 price tag that most entry level bikes are priced at. I own a 2015 DB line and have put a few upgrades into the bike and its a solid entry level mtb that doesn't hold me back. This bike has taken me from entry level to intermediate and I am confident that I can use it until I am ready to be spending $3500 on a top line mtb.
