If you could only have one bike — just one — the Hook would be the perfect choice. For starters, it’s capable of, well, just about _anything_ you have the nerve for. That includes quick rips on your local trails, all-day suffer fests that have you pedaling away into terra incognita, and everything in between.

We’ve equipped the Hook with the same low-slung, modern frame as its well-heeled Line and Sync’r siblings. Long in the front, short in the back, low and maneuverable — the Hook is deft and precise on tight trails yet rock steady when you are going Mach Chicken down the steepest descents. The most impressive thing about the Hook, however, might just be its price.

We kept the price tag from burning a hole in your checking account by equipping the Hook with awesome yet affordable components, including a plush 120mm fork, simple and effective single-ring drivetrain, powerful disc brakes, and quick-rolling 27.5” wheels.

It's a really good beginner bike, I am very surprised it's not 900 dollars
If your looking to start with a budget, this is really good, they cant get much better than this for the price

Bike is awesome

Did a bit of research and with the budget I had I ended up getting this Diamondback Hook. Bike is great. Goes on everything I’ve put it on. Only have had it for a week and have spent more time outdoors than ever. I’m a big guy at 5’8, 290 LBS and it does great. The seat was really uncomfortable so I changed it. Recommend this for beginners like myself. Does great in the city too!

Great bike for the price

I am 6'1" 180lbs. I am an "in-betweener" when it comes to sizes... I went with the XL and couldn't be happier (make sure you review the size guide and specs of the bike). I have ridden around the local state park and around my neighborhood. This bike is affordable & dependable for those like me who are looking for a new active outdoor hobby! Now, I bought a more cushioned seat and am currently researching better brakes. Yay for customization! This is the bike you want if you are looking to start out strong without spending a whole lot of money!

Fantastic Customer Service

Review by Nick
Overall Quality

As for the bike, I can not give much insight. I just put it together last night and have not had a chance to ride. However, there was a small snafu with my order. The customer service Diamondback provided was top notch, specifically Amanda. I am at the beginning stages of this hobby and Diamondback has gained a loyal customer solely because of the experience I have had so far. Well done.

I just started mountain biking and decided to buy this bike on a whim. I want a 1x to make it simple for myself. overall the bike does feel great descending and it's nimble. The only issue I have with it is climbing with this current derailer makes it difficult. one of my local trails is a steep 4,400 climb and it winds you out. in due time I'll get stronger. if you're looking for a beginner bike I would highly recommend this one. just upgrade the parts in due time.

Good starter bike

Purchased in June 2018. I'm new to mtn biking, late 30s. Location of upstate NY. Trails are a mix of narrow, rooted, short incline and decline trails.
Overall, this is a reasonable bike to start on.
I eventually upgraded to a 1x10 for under $200. Which increased my ability to make it up steeper climbs and save engery for more riding.
I then purchased a pnw dropper post and was gifted avid hydraulic brakes. These components further increased the bike's capabilities and fun factor Although not completely neccessary IMO.
It was fun upgrading and learning install and adjustment. But i feel the sync'r would be the better buy for me.
The bike is fun, easy to upgrade if desired, and low cost (i paid around $500 ).

Shred the gnar

Love it

Review by Cory

Had my hook for about 3 months now and I love it. My wife was nervous about buying a bike online without sitting on it so she got one from a local bike shop she now wishes she got a diamondback. The only thing I'm not happy with is the front shocks, they seem on the cheap side but I do plan on upgrading to some air shocks later. Now If only it would finally warm up enough here in Michigan to dry out the trails!
