The reception to Level Link has been overwhelmingly positive, with riders loving how our new suspension design brings a mix of climbing efficiency and downhill ability to a trail bike. The system has allowed us to make lighter, shorter travel bikes that are just plain fast everywhere—the only thing missing? Level Link bikes for women.

Enter the Clutch 1. From the same team that produced the Release, the Clutch 1 is a bike for the female rider who’s looking to ride it all: climbing backcountry classics to flowing new machine-built trails. A short rear end and longer cockpit keep the bike stable at speed, while still being a blast in the corners. With its 1×11 SRAM drivetrain, smooth Rockshox Yari fork, and wide Blanchard rims, it’s a mountain bike made for today’s aggressive riders.

Ready Ride bikes are shipped 95 percent assembled. Typical bike assembly is time-consuming and requires technical know-how. Ready Ride reduces the time and skills needed for the final, four-step assembly.

one for each of us... Large for me, Small for my daughter and XS for my son

Review by perfect for each family member
Overall Quality

First, I got a small for my girl to ride DH with the family. She loves it.

Then I bought one for myself... I'm her Dad. I LOVE THIS BIKE, I was faster on this bike down an local enduro run than the pivot switchblade (which has near identical geo) I demoed earlier this year. I absolutely love this bike. Sure I could have gotten the Release, but the Clutch was on sale.

Finally I bought an XS for my son to replace his Kona Stinky 24 for riding DH for next year.

We all will ride these at the local XC training weekly race too, even though they are pretty heavy, they pedal nicely.

Diamondback is my new favorite brand

I was really disappointed with Diamondback on this one. The first bike I got, was damaged in shipping, with several chips along it- it'll happen eventually, but I expect more for that much money. Then 1 of the 4 holes on the stem for mounting the bars was stripped, seemed like a bad thread job, so I re-tapped it and fixed the threads, not a ton of work, but would've cost me money to take it somewhere, for a brand new bike. Then, after all is said and done, and assembled, come to find out, they shipped the wrong size. Ordered a small, received an extra small. Just got the small in the mail. No issues with damage or assembly. For all the issues, dealing with Diamondbacks (Accel) customer support has been great.

This bike is for my wife, so her opinion is that it handles pretty well, although she wishes it had more gears for steeper ascents.

A HUGE oversight and lack of thought put into the frame, is that the seat post has a curve in it, which means there is only about 15cm of insert length before your seatpost essentially bottoms out. Because of this retarded design, I had to cut the seatpost just so it could seat far enough for my wife to ride it. This also means that the bike can't support a dropper post, unless you're way too tall for the bike. Such as the 125mm dropper post that Diamondback sent as an apology for all the issues. It bottoms out really quickly, leaving 8 or 9 cm to the collar. Fully compressed or "dropped" it is still too tall for my wife to even ride, let alone any room for it to drop out of the way. All because of the asinine design of the seat post tube. The really funny part, is Diamondback shows pictures of it with a dropper, and the bike has a slot and plug for an integrated dropper post. So the bike, which was intended to use one, wasn't designed to be able to.

Trail Bomber

Overall Quality

That's what my teenage daughter called it after her first ride. She was chasing her older brother down some single track with some serious G-outs and a nasty rock garden section that will humble most. Her older brother has the men's version of the Clutch 1 in the Release 1. She's only had one good ride on it but it's made out of the same stuff the Release 1 is and our son has rode the heck out of his with no issues. The only thing I had to change her Clutch (medium frame) was to cut about 3 inches off the seat post, so she could drop the seat all the way down when things get steep and fast. But still leaves plenty for the other stuff. All thats left to say is Bravo DB for an amazing bike, so much so my wife wants one also.
